Vital Statistics and Population Estimates is a quarterly report on the total and resident population estimate based on vital events of births and deaths plus net migration data derived from the tourism and migration data. It also reports on other vital events such as marriages, infant deaths, and basic demographic crude rates on births and deaths.

March quarter 2019 compared to the December quarter 2018 :

 

  • Total Births were less by 35.5 percent. 17 births were males and 23 births were females.
  • Total Deaths were lower by 15.4 percent. 14 deaths were males and 8 deaths were females.
  • Crude birth rates decreased by 35.1 and Crude death rates fell by 14.8 percent

Marriages dropped by 39.4 percent. 86 percent of marriages this quarter were visitors and 14 percent were residents

From March year 2018 to March year 2019:

  • Cook Islands Total population estimates decreased by 4.84 percent
  • Resident population estimates made minimal increase of 1.94 percent
